Prayer of Praise

[Prayer from a Sunday morning at Edgewood Church]

We Praise you God…

Because there are things in our life and inside of us try to steal our joy, and our peace, and our confidence in you. We know God that if we don’t praise you, worry, fear, bitterness, and indifference will rush into the places in us that were created for your praise.

We praise you God because you are good. We praise you God because you are the giver of life, and we are alive today. We praise you God for all we have gained and experienced, because we know those were gifts from you. We praise you God for all we have lost, because it is you who have given us things worth losing and we praise you because we know that nothing is ever truly lost that we place in your hands.

May ever breadth be a celebration of your goodness, may our every thought be full of gratitude to you and praise for what you have done. May our words celebrate your goodness and may our actions God, reflect your greatness.

Not just in our words, but in our hearts, may we sing to you now, may we sing to you when we leave, may we sing to you when we are at home, may we sing to you when we wake up, may we sing to you as we go through the day, may we sing to you when we lay down, and God, may we sing to you even in our dreams.

You are good and worthy of our praise. You are faithful even when we are not faithful. You love us God. You take care of us and are working in every moment to heal this broken world. We praise you God for this brand new day. We praise you that we get to be a part of it. We praise you for the blessings of our past, for the blessings of the present, and we praise you for hope for the future.

Continue to set us free God. God, make our joy complete and let nothing steal our praise from you this morning.

Amen
