Wu Wei
Jesus once said, “I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes? Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they?”
If he was Chinese, Jesus’ “Don’t worry” might have sounded more like “Wu Wei,” which is a Chinese saying meaning “Do Nothing” or a better translation might be, “Just Be.” It means quit striving, straining, fretting, and grasping and just be.
Though the two have very similar meanings I think the Chinese version is more fun to say. So the next time you find yourself not trusting in God and bent out of shape over things you cannot control…Wu Wei!
